Welcome to Aveyron, a corner of sunny south-west France untroubled by the modern world .-- a France of colourful old market towns, of perfect village cafes in sleeping cobbled squares, of stunning castles and vineyards...

Our gite is located in a beautiful 19th century renovated barn, set in 5 acres of meadows and farmland with lovely views. It is completely detached from the our farmhouse (next door) and has its own access, garden and parking. The gite sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms: One Large family room/quad upstairs, and a twin and a cosy double on the ground floor. The former two have lovely views of the countryside. The very spacious living areas comprise a kitchen diner with dishwasher and gas cooker and two under-counter fridges with ice-boxes. The dining area (left) includes a large chestnut dining table in front of the huge arched patio doorway. Upstairs there is a large living room with comfy sofas, 16\' ceiling under the original barn roof beams, and more great views. The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment, basin, toilet and electric towel rail. All rooms have revealed original oak beams and traditional lime rendered and white-washed walls

Places of Interest

Located in the heart of the beautiful Aveyronnaise countryside, we are nonetheless only 10 minutes from the beautiful small bastide town of Villeneuve, with excellent restaurant and cafes plus shops and all other amenities. Twenty minutes drive gets you to Villefranche de Rouergue, the gorgeous thriving market town and regional centre, or five minutes more north to the lovely Lot Valley and the charming town of Figeac. We are surrounded by the biggest concentration of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France' anywhere in France such as Najac with its stunning castle, yet the area remains quiet, relaxed and relatively untouched by tourists - the real provincial France as we always hoped it would be. Activities near by Boules, Canoeing, Cycling, Horse riding, Rambling, Sightseeing, Swimming, Walking We are well connected to the superb French motorway system, and although we are a good way south it is still possible to drive here in a day from the channel ports. We, however, prefer a little stopover in one of the countless inexpensive hotels which make travelling so easy here. A tiny rural railway line stops at our local village, Salles Courbatiers, and allows you to see many of the local sights by train (contact us for timetables).
